the second council meeting of future forum
assembly | 2007/4/5the second council meeting of future forum was held in beijing on april 4th of 2007.
the council meeting was attended by the leaders and representatives from the 26 council members of future forum, namely huawei, zte, datang, china telecom, china mobile, china unicom, china netcom, siemens, ericsson, ntt docomo, samsung, tsinghua university, bupt, and southeast university. the awarded and return banquet was given after the council meeting which was attended by the leaders from ndrc, most, mii, the state radio monitoring center, ccsa, catr, senior representatives from the four major operators as well as experts and scholars in mobile communication field.
the council meeting was presided by academician wu hequan, president of future forum on which prof. you xiaohu, secretary-general of future forum made a summary of the forum’s work. in the past year, five working group meetings were successfully held in 2006. during the meetings, forum members made in-depth analysis and discussion on various aspects of future mobile communication and produced 2006 working group white paper. this paper covered user requirement, service and application, spectrum usage, framework of propagation system and key technology, radio resource management and various network architectures. this book passed the rigorously review and evaluation by the assessment committee composed of government officials and industrial experts.
in addition, suggestion on wrc-07 agenda 1.4 was another achievement of forum working groups. in-depth analysis and suggestions on universal imt-advanced frequency and methods to meet wrc-07 agenda 1.4 requirements were finalized in this report. it has been submitted to relevant governmental authorities as an important reference for decision making and as china’s preparatory documents for 2007 apt, cpm and wrc meetings. user requirements and system concepts of future mobile communication systems, advancement of radio spectrum and propagation research, and service, application and system requirements for beyond 3g were specifically drafted for the 4th cross-forum conference.
based on the current situation of the development of b3g and relative mobile communication technology, and focused on the research on the next generation broadband wireless communication technology, future forum organized a series of seminars, including seminar on broadband wireless access technology, internal seminar on strategic development of tdd technology, preparatory meeting for wrc-07, which effectively promoted the overall development of b3g technology in china.
during the last year, future forum has rapidly developed strategic and cooperative relationships with some domestic and international relativc organizations, which effectively expanded the international reputation of future forum. initiated and organized by future forum, mitf, ngmc and wwrf (europe), two international conference was held this year, setting up an global communication platform. future forum also established the connection with 3gclub in taiwan, organized series of activities of information exchanges and technical workshops which greatly promoted the cooperation cross the strait in this certain area.
as an international communication platform concerning the future development, future forum voluntarily participated in some public welfare activities to return the society. in 2006, future forum initiated a series of public donation activities named “future action”. the first round of donation activity was successful completed at the central elementary school of mujia town in linshui county, guang’an sichuan province. except for the large quantity of stationery and educational equipment, future forum made use of its influence over the mobile communication community to introduced donation activity to its forum members and achieved favorable social effects.
in the coming year, future forum will organize a series of discussions and seminars in relation to wrc-07 and pre-standardization b3g technology and gather suggestions and advice on imt-advanced development from both domestic and foreign enterprises. meanwhile, future forum will endeavor to promote academic communications with japan, korea, eu and taiwan as well as propel the discussion on the joint r&d projects.
