the 1st working group meeting of 2014 was held on march 28th in beihang university. over 40 experts from 30 members attended the meeting, contributing 14 papers for discussion.

with the growth of the global pre-research on 5g technologies, itu, some international standardization organizations, and regional institutes have released their schedule on relative research. the flourishing 5g research has become the focus of future forum working groups. domestic and foreign operators and equipment providers, such as china mobile, huawei, zte, datang, and nokia are paying attention to 5g requirement and key technologies, as well as the progresses of those international research projects, stressing major 5g services, typical application scenarios, and major features. on the meeting, the innovative technical development of network structure, wireless transmission, signaling control, base station and frequency technologies. experts from ntt docomo, uestc, beihang university, and xjtu shared their latest progresses on 5g wireless access and network structure technologies.

on this meeting, 5g sig was formally set up and organized the first joint meeting. the group, led by experts from china mobile, huawei, nokia and samsung, discussed the objectives, contents, and manners of their work, as well as the relationship of 5g sig and other working groups. 5g sig will focus on 5g requirements, vision, and relative technical development; cooperate with other groups to conduct unified research and analysis on 5g technologies, effectively integrate all powers to push the development of 5g technologies.
