the third working group meeting of 2012 and future communication technology workshop were held on november 6th in liuyuan hotel of southeast university, which was attended by over 40 experts from member units.

all the groups had their sub meetings. future hit white paper based on the future service requirement analysis in hotspot areas proposed by wg1 and wg2 has come into frame design and contents improvement. the major chapters on the technical and spectrum requirements, network structure, research on physical-layer key technology and senior key technology were defined and improved, and the paper solicitation is expected to be finished before the next meeting. wg3 shared and discussed the research on spectrum planning in 2012, especially imt frequency, 24ghz and 5ghz panning, and the co-existence of fdd/tdd imt systems on 1.8/1.9/2.1ghz bands, and wrc15 1.1 research. wg4-wg6 conducted the research on some new technologies such as 3d-mimo, new carrier type, epdcch technologies, d2d communication technologies, multi-way relay technologies, small cellular network configuration, and self-organized network technologies, while following the research on 3gpp lte-a and imt-a.

on the summary meeting, prof. you xiaohu summarized and analyzed the research of working groups, affirming that the working groups are evolving into maturity and proposed many constructive suggestions. the working groups focus on the research on the advanced mobile communication technologies, continue to profoundly discussed, encouraged, and fostered revolutionary technical research, and kept eyes on innovative convergence and new services. combining wrc-15 and b4g, different services are involved in spectrum research. prof. you suggested that future forum organize the special seminars on son and 6og, combining the important subjects developed in the major special project. hit technology, directly affecting the 80% hotspot coverage in public cellular network, is the biggest concern of the governmental departments and operators, for whom the relative research and white paper will provide much support and help.

on future communication technology workshop, prof. zhang zaichen, vice prof. jiang ming, and vice prof. li lianming were invited to introduce the progresses on visible light wireless communication technologies, ldpc codes and 60ghz cmos millimeter wave chips, and future forum organized a visit to the national mobile communications research laboratory and the state key laboratory of millimeter waves. prof. pan zhiwen from national mobile communications research laboratory introduced their latest research results, especially the achievement granted with national technology invention awards. prof. hong wei, director of state key laboratory of millimeter waves, received the wg experts in wireless valley, introducing the new laboratory and relative equipment and test field under construction, the latest research achievements on millimeter waves application systems and integrated technologies, computational electro-magnetics, and rf technologies. the forum also organized the experts to visit the wireless valley---the innovative and combining base for communication and network education in nanjing.
