 research     |       2012/8/14

the 2nd working group meeting of 2012 was held from july 25th to 27th in shanghai.

initiated by wg1&2, the special research subject on “future hotspot indoor technology” (future hit), focusing on indoor hotspot coverage in low-rate mobility and high-rate data transmission. all the working groups conduct relative researches from different aspects, and will finally compile a research report and white paper providing references for the departments in charge and the whole industrial community. based on the research orientation, scope, and objectives, all the working groups have started relative studies. on this meeting, clear technical requirements have been formed as followed:
supporting continuously increasing hotspot/indoor data service market
supporting sufficient frequency resources
supporting user initiative installation and deployment
able to realize independent networking and supporting services not less than the current macro-networks
volume and power consumption of access points similar to that of wifi access points
simplifying data service routers
supporting uninterrupted switch between access-point-covered range and outdoor macro-networks
supporting the three major operators
reducing costs for future hit access points
constantly improving transmission performance by utilizing high frequencies, short-and-medium distance, wide broadband, and low mobility

relative papers were submitted by all the working groups. wg3 submitted “frequency requirement on future hit”; wg4 and wg5 submitted “interference suppression in eimta” and “self-adaptive uplink and downlink restructure of tdd data”, “enhanced technologies in heterogeneous network”, and “opportunism-based relay technologies”. paper solicitation is continued and the draft report on future hit is expected to be completed after the 3rd working group meeting.

mobile internet has become an important subject in the working groups since 2010. on the summary meeting, future forum invited dr. ren zhen, director of partnership & open innovation of france telecom, and mr. hou ziqiang, a reputed telecommunication expert, elaborated the opportunities, challenges and future orientation of mobile communication from various aspects.
