kick-off meeting of sino-japan joint fund project on wireless and mobile communication, co-hosted by future forum, yrp r&d promotion committee, and ieice rcs, was held on may 10th of 2012 in tkp shinagawa conference center in tokyo. mr. li ying, minister-counsellor of embassy of the people’s republic of china in japan, and mr.shigeki suzuki.officer from mic of japan attended the meeting and gave opening speeches. prof. you xiaohu from seu, secreatry-general of future forum, ms. fu jun, vice secretary-general of future forum, prof. wang jing from tsinghua university, mr. motai akio，president of yrp r&d promotion committee, japan-china ict forum, prof. yoshida susumu from kyoto university, and nearly 50 chinese and japanese well-known experts joined this meeting.

the joint fund, financed by five chinese state key laboratories on wireless communication, collaborated by future forum, covers mainly five subjects, including including the 4th generation mobile communications and its evolving technologies, key techniques for microwave and terahertz communications, key technologies for mobile internet, key technique research for satellite communications, and key technologies for self-organization networks. 10 projects have been approved and formally signed as part of the sino-japan joint fund on wireless and mobile communication through the initial selection by the fund management committee and the final selection by the academic committee. the applicants are nearly 20 chinese and japanese universities and research institutes, including ustc, sjtu, kyoto university, and tohoku university.

prof. zhou shidong from tsinghua university, prof. takeshi hattori from sophia university, prof. zhao liqiang from xidian university, prof. seiichi sampei from osaka university, mr. li ruyue from zte, and ms. chen lan from ntt docomo were invited to share their latest research on advanced mobile communication technologies on the meeting. in the afternoon, the applicants meet with their funders to discuss the objective and implementation plan for their project, and consequently shared their initial plan with all on the summary meeting.
